Hi readers, welcome back…
rakshakoppal-lets make life simple.
I would like to start by wishing you all belated valentines day. And I do really apologise for not being regular. As I had a busy couple of weeks. I will definitely try sticking to the schedule. Coming back to today’s blog, I would like to share my experience with a travel challenge that I did recently.
Basically, according to this challenge, any traveller he or she can carry only 10 items with them on a trip. This includes all your necessities, clothes, shoes and toiletries. However, it excludes what you’re wearing, backpack, phone and wallet. I came across this challenge on YouTube and decided to go ahead and try. But I found carrying ten items was very tough so I changed a bit and decided that I would carry 15 items for my trip.
Usually packing for a trip is exciting and exhausting at the same time. You are never sure that you have it all and this always leads to overpacking or carrying unwanted stuff. In order to avoid this and to pack for efficiently, I decided to go ahead and try this challenge.
In the beginning, I was all in and decided on my clothes but as I continued the challenge got tougher. I packed and repacked more than ten times, I was so frustrated that I did decide to give up yet with support from my husband I was able to complete the challenge. Frankly, I was relieved that the challenge was over once I finished packing. But that was not the end of it as days got closer to travel I started to panic and worry that I wouldn’t have stuff on my trip and I had to go shopping. That being said on another hand I was excited to do the challenge. With these mixed feelings, we did proceed on our trip for 2 nights and 3 days. The trip was awesome, we had a good time with each other and also really enjoyed being away from day to day work.
One thing you can do to make this work, call the hotel or place where you’re staying and find out if they are providing you with toiletries like body wash, shampoo, paste etc, as this will help you cross of these items from your packing lists and give you more room to carry something else. One other thing you can do is if you are travelling with a bud, you can always share stuff like a water bottle, mosquito repellant, tissues etc.
List of things that I Carried
3. Face cream
5. Night gown
6. Tops – two nos
7. A pair of Pants
8. A pair of shorts
9. Suns cream
10. Face Wash
12. Water bottle
These were the only thing that I carried and as I did carry two tops the total came up to thirteen. With this, I did carry my Lingerie. I would pack all this nicely into a backpack. It was sunny where I was visiting, so I didn’t take any boots or socks. We had just worn a pair of slippers and a simple summer dress with a light jacket. One rule of this challenge is that you cannot cheat by stuffing things into your pocket. I mean you would really be tempted to do it, try overcoming this.
Like I said earlier, the trip was fantastic and I loved the challenge but I really missed carrying a book to write down my experience. I am old school and I like writing. And I also missed carrying some board games to play in the evening and most importantly I should have carried an extra hat as I lost mine while trekking, which led to shopping. Overall the challenge was a true learning experience and also very exciting. Would do this again, maybe not but form now on I can definitely pack light and have a memorable trip.
