If you realise how powerful your thoughts are you’d never think a negative thought again. – natural life.
When I was young I used always tell my mom that I would one day be so successful that I would retire at 40 and start travelling the world, to which my mom used to smile at me and tell me as long as I am surrounded by positive thoughts I will be able to achieve all my dreams. Her words appear simple yet powerful once you realise the hidden meaning.
This applies to all ages of our life, no matter how busy or frustrated you get, as long as you stay positive you will be able to achieve your dreams and also live a healthy and satisfying life. Self love is the stepping stone to positive life: to know more on this head to my post on why should you respect yourself link http://rakshakoppal.org/why-should-you-respect-yourself/
I have been fighting for a couple of years to beat the Monday blues and start my week on a positive note. No tricks helped me, with added to my frustration and in return, I hated my Mondays even more. But it’s just not limited to Mondays, you might experience negativity on any day or any time of the day. What to do then and how to keep yourself going? This very question motivated me to find a solution. I am a person who needs to know the answer, as I strongly believe that for every problem there is a solution. And after some research and trial, I arrived at the following habits that I cultivated to help me keep motivated and live a positive life.
1. Stop and write
The first step to your journey of positivity is to stay positive. Anytime you start thinking negatively or self – defeat yourself. Stop and start writing your thoughts. If you’re too busy or don’t prefer writing you can always stop and rethink your thoughts. Question yourself: for instance does being late to work brings negativity then ask how many times have I been late to work? A couple of times or is it more than that. Even if it’s more than a couple of times, its okay. There must be a reason for that, instead of being hard on yourself you should try and address the issue behind your problem and make necessary changes to your lifestyle. Like getting up a little earlier, picking your outfit previous day, pre-planning your breakfast, asking your husband to lend a hand in the chores or spending less time on screen in the morning, you can always read your texts and blogs or Instagram post on your way to work. Remember small changes go a long way.
2. Visualise your success.
When it comes to success the mantra is simple unless you dream you cannot succeed. Always keep yourself self-motivated, in the form you prefer, it can vary from bullet journals to scrapbooks, you can either go old school and write down or take the help of an app and keep track of your success and steps that need to be taken to succeed. I always keep a scrapbook full of all my favourite pics which helps me to stay positive and keep on going. You’re more productive and your performance is much better when you are an optimist.
3. Lose negative people.
The things that we are surrounded with has a huge influence on how you feel. A simple instance: when you go for a walk or jogging in the morning you feel relaxed, that’s because of exercise and fresh air. But we feel flustered when stuck in traffic and that’s because of noise and pollution. So tell me which one of you prefer. The answer is simple we always prefer calmness over being frustrated. Take this and apply it in your day to day life – try and avoid spending time with negative people, negative things for that matter anything that demotivates you. instead utilises that time to relax and spend with family.
4. Relax and breathe.
It’s okay if the day doesn’t go according to the plan, its okay if you don’t cross off every single thing on your do list, its okay if you failed, its okay if you had a bad day. Always try to see positivity in a bad situation. Be happy for one thing that went your way, be happy for the things you crossed off from your do list, be happy for all the things you succeed and lesson your learnt in your failure and finally be happy that at the end of the bad day you have someone to lean on and crib about it. Let go of the things you can’t control and hold on to the things that you can.
Finally, the most important and the key change that you can adopt is being grateful. Start including a gratitude page in your journal, at the end of the day list one thing that you’re grateful for. Keep it as simple as possible. If you prefer to take the help of the apps, then download them on your smartphone and set a reminder to write a note on what made you smile today or what you’re grateful for. As said gratitude is like a love letter that you write for yourself.
I would like to conclude by telling you all let’s be happy with what we have and say no to negativity. As I always say let’s make life simple.
